Upcoming: Night at the Museum — Harvest Moon Exhibition

An Invitation to the Museum After Dark

For three nights in November, Panchapuri Museum will open its doors after sunset for a unique immersive experience — Night at the Museum: Harvest Moon. The exhibition is designed around the relationship between lunar cycles and agricultural traditions in the Karnali region, a subject that sits at the intersection of astronomy, ecology, and cultural practice.

What to Expect

Visitors will move through the museum by lamplight, guided by local storytellers who will share oral traditions about the harvest moon — called Sharad Purnima in Sanskrit, but known by a dozen different names across the villages of Karnali. In each room, interactive installations will invite visitors to engage with the collection in new ways: grinding grain by moonlight, learning to read lunar calendars used by traditional farmers, or simply sitting in the open courtyard to watch the full moon rise over the Surkhet Valley.
